What We're Reading This Week: November 23

When you ask most people the best time to sell a home, they're probably going to tell you the spring. We've argued that you might be better off selling during the holiday season and not just because you'll get to send some fantastic holiday cards from your new home. This week we've been reading some real estate experts who agree with us.

Forget the Spring, Now's the Time to Sell

Kyle Hiscock is always full of great real estate advice. This season he's giving us 10 reasons to sell your home during the holidays. He says the holidays are a great time to capitalize on the time off of work and the holiday cheer most people are enjoying. That means more time available to search for a home and a more joyful experience. Check out his full list on his blog

Be sure to Prepare Your House

There are a few things in your home that potential buyers will never notice--unless there's problem. Debbie Drummond of Las Vegas Luxury Home Pro does a great job summing those up. From making sure your HVAC system is functioning properly so you don't ice out any buyers to keeping your landscaping looking great, you'll need all the tips on this list to successfully sell your home.

And Yourself

Huffington Post Canada takes us beyond the act of staging your home to how you should prepare for an open house. From vacating the property to taking your furbabies with you (and making sure their hair and smell is gone, too), the article is a great reminder that you'll need to have a good plan to make your showing successful. Always Be Thankful

It's easy to get stressed out about your home. Especially if you're thinking about selling it soon. But the folks over at DreamCasa remind us that there's plenty to be thankful about when you're a homeowner. Just remember the freedom that it offers you, the tax breaks, and the other financial benefits.

So, while you're dreaming of turkey dinners, pumpkin pie, and football, take a minute to talk about whether waiting until spring to sell your home is right or if you should take advantage of the fall season to make your move.
